Camarillo’s Guerrilla Jiu-Jitsu
The Three Principles
1. Attitude:
They represent the instructor, their fellow peers, the academy in general and themselves in the utmost professional way possible, at all times. In short, they are humble. They are not fighters, they are not brutes, they will not act above or beyond any student or non-student. They are driven to contribute positively to the art and those who practice the art.
2. Active:
They are consistently active in the art, to drill, to train, to roll, and to help others gain the knowledge and experience required to holistically understand the art. Their absences are few and far between. The reason for their dedication to the art is not only for the individual, but also for the academy as a whole. With this, missing practice is detrimental to progress and promotion.
3. Ability:
Application of the art itself is an extremely important part of your career as a Martial Artist. The ability to apply the technical aspects of the art is important in building self-confidence. With this confidence the student will increase their chances of success in every endeavor. One of which is the ability to excel in Camarillo’s Guerrilla Jiu-Jitsu.
Not only are these three principles important for the academy, but they are created to maximize the potential of the student. Simply trying something new doesn’t equal the ability to reach excellence. It is in 'direction' that leads the student down the right path.
With this criteria you will understand that path, know where you are on it and gain the ability to reach your goals.
Starting in February, I will be awarding a total of three stripes on every belt. This is in order to recognize specific achievement and advancement of the student.
I will update this thread with explaining in detail the requirements for each stripe. _________________ David Camarillo

I really like this format. I think in BJJ people focus 100% on performance and neglect aspects of community and humility. Great system. Another reason to be a part of GJJ. _________________ http://bjjnorcal.com

Our goal is to not only create the finest jiu-jistu practitioners in the world, but also be leaders in the sport as far as attitude, activity in the art and ability.
Supreme technicians with the highest amounts of respect for their fellow martial artists and human beings.
I know David, Jared, Dan and myself are working very hard to create a positive environment for learning. A place that everyone loves to be at. A place where the jiu-jitsu that is being taught and applied is without compare. _________________ Black Belt Camarillo Jiu-Jitsu

I think this is an awesome and effective way to rank a student in Camarillo Guerrilla Jiu-Jitsu. My students at Odyssey and myself are really looking forward to growing in CGJJ in this new format. Take care!

| When someone is promoted in Guerrilla Jiu Jitsu is it the same as having that promotion in both Judo and BJJ - for example; would a black belt in GJJ be a black in Judo and BJJ? |

No. Guerrilla Jiu-jitsu is not Guerrilla Judo. |
